Dealerships that have closed or will closenear you are fair game.  Owners may be too busy to speak with you directly right now but eventually they, or their representative, will be ready to speak with a liquidator of assets.  If someone does not buy and remove the items then some great things ar going to the dump.  Unfortunately, a lot of great stuff will end up at the dump.  The dealership closing numbers are just too great to save a lot of great historical memorabilia.

When Are The Opportunities

Opportunities are going to be there for the collector over tenext few years, for today’s dealerships that are closing.  If there is an immediatete change then the items will be available for removal right now.   If it takes years to resolve issues then it may take years for an outcome.

Direct and Indirect Opportunity

GM Certified Used CarsIf you have a chance to negotiatete right now the price is probably going to be the best.  Any money the dealer can get represents money they do not have.  Any money that comes is is probably very welcome.  Many dealerships will take a long time before physical assets are sold off.  Personal contact with the dealer or a member of their liquidation team is a good way to uncover opportunity.

Second Tier Purchase Opportunity

Popular sights such as EBay or Craigslist will see items coming to their listings along with the sale column in collector and atique publications.  There is so much that will come to market that a wide range of price and quality is a reality.  This is the time to be aggressive on bargaining.  Cash is king in this market and someone that is not negotable is going to have a difficult time moving their inventory.

Opportunity Abounds

Be on the watch for opportunity.  It will be there.
