A Visit to Daytona Dodge Chrysler
Today, I did one of those things that really is a car guy thing, by going to the car dealership and looking around. Stopping in at Daytona Dodge Chrysler and being shown around by Mr. Straiten.
For hard core Chrysler Product fans the term Mopar is about as close to the core as you get because of Motor Parts Corporation or Dodge/Chrysler parts division. All future references to Mopar in the Automotive Tribune will be addressed with the full respect and homage associated with the rights, honors, and privileges thereto appertaining.
Car sales may be in the tank but product is hot at the Mopar store! Today I primarily wanted to look at the new 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 with the Ram Box. This is one nice truck and according to the factory web site the big truck gets up to 20 mpg and you can also spend some quality time with the Build My Own configuration feature.
Big trucks are always a big seller and the new 2009 Ram does not come up short in the plush interior category with refinement. I drove over in my 14,000 mile 2005 SLT Quad Cab Ram, which is nice and clean. After inspecting the new Ram the 2005 seems pretty Spartan. Attached is an interior photo of the new Ram.
Technologically, and only on the 15oo series, is a new coil spring rear suspension fitted to a solid rear axle is significant. For boulevard cruisers, home & family transportation, and general utility towing this is the suspension that smooths out the ride.
The RamBox option is fitted into the steel pickup bed walls. RamBox top is a composite material which had, on inspection, was a seamless color match to the bed. Opening up the RamBox system provides 7.6 cubic feet of lockable dry space, or, according to the advertisements 240 12 ounce cans (10 cases). There are switched lights installed in both ends of each ram box with an automatic shut off switch if the lid is closed.
The new Ram is a comfortable and elegant truck. It was also one of the top 10 selling vehicles in the US in February 2009.
